What is convergent journalism? In my opinion convergent journalism is way of technology used in order to give information to the readers. Somehow, we can call it digital journalism. The age of technologies which gradually increased may become a great event for journalist to work with different form. Journalist may have alternatives to inform and create articles. The digital media which currently used are HTML forms, PDA, Blogs, and Email. Other supported forms such as FLASH, PHP, also may considered to be journalist new way of writing. People also can communicate each other they can do interactive chat, which only sign for free to the platform such as Yahoo, MSN, and Google. Besides that, cyber forum that has been created to the particular website can be very informative and helpful, as people can ask and have feedback within the forum. The digital journalism has its basic form of the way journalist write. According to the Kawamoto (2003) these basic rules of journalism should be related to the story that has been researched, must be based on reality, accurate, fair, and balanced, deliberately provide correct form, well contextualized, moral, and readable. This is the way how journalist can take part of digital age.
We already know that electronic publication is faster than printed publication. This trend increase gradually in recent years, as people tend to search fast and accurate information. On this day, that internet become more common for people, online information such as news may vary in its form. The way of using the Hypertext has produce unique output. The design also be considered, and specifically the website will employ special graphic, embedded to the website. This may the information become clear, effective and interactive as long as entertain readers. The combination of broadcast media with newspaper publishing can create hybrid process of web production. To say, this could generate interest among journalist and readers in the web.

The way of people writing online is different; it depends of style they want. As technology of internet is developing, online writers must know how to collect and give information to the readers. They have to give information as accurate as they can. But it doesn’t only the way the give the information, to survive in this tough competition, writers have to stick on what style they follow. Journalism which assorts news through online service has two different types of news. First is online service and second is email based internet. The combination of two different styles may be deliver good combination to attract readers on the internet. There are benefits of online news that can be very effective for writers. There are links to offer more subject, updated stories regularly, no limitation of space, add special contents such as audio and video, and archived stories. Those advantages must be followed relevant content. The main important is readers should get information according to the topic instantly. Reporters mustn’t spend time crafting the stories, they should be able to give clear information and don’t need to hide actual in order to make real news. Then to get best writing style, it must contain solid and factual reporting behind the humor and discourtesy.

Even though people can enjoy free online writing, there are also confined actions that protect people of false and misleading information. These actions may prevent and block all things that can’t be accepted by logical reasoning. Cyber Patrol which is applied by some country to help parents prevent bad contents of information is very useful. It can filter pornography, and insulation contents. Despite of positive actions, there is also actions that suffer the freedom of the people express themselves on the internet. The censorship in China, for example, urges people to obey the government rules about give and receive information from the internet. There are also privacy and surveillance, copyright and intellectual property issues that happen in the internet world. These positive and negative things may become an opportunity for writers to be well equipped for presenting stories. Writers must now how to use “small gap” and pass it through.

On that era, Australian press media fail to keep its readers. The effects of this event may cause political and democracy stability in mass media industry. The proprietor of mass media also has impact this situation. It is radically concentrate on grabbing more readers. Australian newspaper has similar structure with other countries such as USA, Canada, New Zealand and South Africa. Actually, because of commonwealth country, Australian newspaper tends to be considerate with British newspaper. This can be seen by the style they used. Australian newspaper is more moderate and less sensational, and British newspaper is emphasizing of standard writing and quality of newspaper. The newspaper business in Australia is not as good as now. In nineteenth century, newspaper lacks of focus in advertising. Now days, even though the impact of other industries such as internet advertising is available, the newspaper, especially in advertising in Australia still exists without significant flow.

The Telecommunication industry in Australia is moving to reach its high peak as media information. It can be seen by the one of the telecommunication company Telstra, which has had significant growing. According to Newstead, comparing 1975 level and 2000 level, Network service has increased for more than 100 percents. This makes us sure that telecommunication as well as information technology are very dominant recent years. Besides that fast growing, there are also some obstacles within the industry. Political changes about privatization and deregulation also turn up to be conflict issue. Policies that have been made by the government make the situation unstable. For example, employment issue, government intervention, social issue, and monopoly. Perhaps, there are still many opportunities to emerge the telecommunication to the high expectation.
